Famously known for distinct sounding horizontally opposed “Boxer” engines, as leaders in all wheel drive technology and for its exploits in world rallying the emergence of Subaru as a global automotive giant is in part no doubt a credit to Nissan, a part owner of Subaru since the 1960’s until GM’s recent share buyout.

Close to two decades since the release of the Subaru Impreza WRX, the WRX quickly became prominent for its supremacy in World Rallying via British company Prodrive and their Subaru World Rally Team with their striking blue and yellow 555 liveries.

Emulating their WRC heroes on TV by modifying their Subaru Impreza WRX with the same stance, appearance and similar performance car enthusiasts worldwide quickly led the WRX to becoming a cult car.

Subaru Tecnica International, Subaru’s motorsport arm, further developed road going models with added components bolstering the cars amazing performance and handling. With many evolutions since its inception two decades ago the Subaru Impreza WRX is still a mighty performer.

Through development and technology gained from its motorsport program, technology has trickled down to the development of many Subaru models such as the Liberty, Legacy, Forester, Outback and even Tribeca’s for which there are numerous performance improvements available.
